School of Surveying and Geospatial Engineering

The School of Surveying and Geospatial Engineering was established in 1988 and offers programs at the undergraduate (B.Sc.), graduate (M.Sc.), and doctoral (Ph.D.) levels. Undergraduate students can enroll in the Surveying Engineering program, while graduate students may specialize in areas such as Remote Sensing, Geodesy, Photogrammetry, GIS, and Hydrography. The school also offers Ph.D. programs in Remote Sensing, Geodesy, Photogrammetry, and GIS. With a total enrollment of 191 B.Sc. students, 222 M.Sc. students, and 72 Ph.D. students, the school is a leading institution in Surveying and Geomatics engineering education. The faculty comprises 23 members, including 6 professors, 8 associate professors, and 9 assistant professors, who supervise research opportunities for both undergraduate and graduate students in the school's laboratories.

Center of Excellence and Research Centers

• Surveying Engineering and Natural Disaster Management Center of Excellence: The establishment of this center was intended to advance research in surveying and geospatial engineering, particularly in its application to natural disasters. The goal is to enhance national and international collaboration, create a network for sharing knowledge and experiences, and promote scientific exchanges in utilizing surveying engineering for disaster management.

• ​​​​​​​Research Center for Geospatial Sensors and Unmanned Platforms (GEOSUP): The primary focus of this Research Center is the exploration of sensing technologies utilizing Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) through interdisciplinary cooperation. Research areas within this center encompass sensor design orientation, platform design, point cloud processing and 3D modeling, cognitive artificial intelligence (AI), image and video processing, data fusion, and thermogrammetry.​​​​​​​

• ​​​​​​​Research Institute of Geoinformation Technology (RIGT): The center was founded with the primary objective of facilitating collaboration between academic faculty and industry stakeholders engaged in spatial information technologies.

Conferences

The school organizes the “GeoSpatial conference” every two years with the support of the International Society of Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (ISPRS) on a global scale in the field of geospatial information sciences and surveying engineering. This conference is a combination of two conferences, SMPR and GIResearch, which have been held since 2011. It is the most prestigious conference in the field of surveying engineering in the country and one of the most renowned conferences internationally.
